Capturing Families, Stories, and the Beauty of Every Child

Before I ever picked up a professional camera, I spent my days as a pediatric speech-language pathologist—helping children find their voices, discover their strengths, and connect with the world around them. That work taught me patience, empathy, and the joy of celebrating progress in all its forms.

Today, as a family photographer, I carry those lessons with me into every session—especially when I have the honor of photographing families with children who have special needs.

A Session Built Around Your Child

Every child is unique, and every family’s journey is different. I never approach a session with a rigid plan. Instead, I take time before we even meet to learn about your child—what makes them light up, what helps them feel safe, and what might be overwhelming.

When you inquire, I’ll send over a short questionnaire designed to get to know your child and your family’s preferences. We’ll follow that with a conversation—either over the phone or in person—so you can share more about your child’s personality, communication style, and any sensory needs. I also ask about your goals for the session, so we can focus on the moments that matter most to you.

From there, we’ll work together to choose the perfect location, time of day, and even wardrobe suggestions to help your child feel comfortable. If a quiet, low-stimulation environment is best, we’ll make that happen. If your child thrives outdoors, we’ll find a spot where they can move freely and explore.

Meeting Families Where They Are

On session day, there’s no rush and no pressure. Sometimes that means starting slowly, letting your child explore the space while I quietly capture those first curious glances. Other times, it’s about jumping into a favorite activity, singing a familiar song, or even sitting right on the floor with them until they’re ready to engage.

I follow your child’s lead—switching activities if needed, taking breaks, or adjusting my approach so the experience feels fun, not stressful. My camera becomes just another part of the day, and when a child feels safe and understood, that’s when the most beautiful moments unfold.

The Gift of Storytelling

For me, photography is about more than smiles and poses. It’s about telling your family’s story—the way your child reaches for your hand, the spark in their eyes when they’re proud, the little quirks that make them exactly who they are.

These moments deserve to be remembered exactly as they are—authentic, real, and full of love.

Why I Love This Work

Photography allows me to combine two things I care deeply about: honoring and understanding children from my years as an SLP, and preserving memories through images. Getting to know your child—their personality, their triumphs, their sense of humor—is a privilege I never take for granted.

When I deliver a gallery, I’m not just handing over photographs. I’m giving you tangible reminders of your family’s journey, your love, and your child’s one-of-a-kind spirit.

To every family raising a child with special needs: I see you. I celebrate you. And I would be honored to help you capture the beauty of your story—exactly as it is.
